Program Overview
Starting in May 2008, the Hough Graduate School of Business of the Warrington College of Business Administration at the University of Florida will offer a Post-Doctoral Bridge (PDB) program for non-business Ph.D. holders. The program is designed to prepare participants for teaching and research careers in business schools.
Participants May Choose from Three Areas of Specialization:
- Accounting and Finance
- Marketing and Management
- International Business and Entrepreneurship
"Bridge"
The College's "bridging" background brings experience and relevance to the Post-Doctoral Bridge (PDB) program. We have hired faculty with Ph.D.'s in anthropology, engineering, labor relations, mathematics, psychology, and sociology. Many of these faculty members have built very successful careers and are leaders in their fields, including Warrington professors Joseph Alba, Distinguished Professor of Marketing (Ph.D., Psychology), Timothy Judge, Eminent Scholar in Management (Ph.D., Labor and Industrial Relations), and Joseph Glover, Associate Dean (Ph.D., Mathematics).
Graduates of Warrington's program will be considered academically qualified by AACSB-accredited business schools for a period of five years from program completion.
Curriculum
The Post-Doctoral Bridge (PDB) program will provide a solid foundation in the core business disciplines that are most crucial for each participant's chosen area of specialization, as well as an understanding of the pedagogical and teaching methods commonly used in business schools. The Post-Doctoral Bridge (PDB) program curriculum will enable the participants to maximize the connections between their Ph.D. training and business topics and provide the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue an academic career in a college of business. Participants will come to the UF campus one weekend per month for five months. Admission is limited to 30 post-doctoral participants per cohort.

Deadline to withdraw from a course with a refund is 48 hours prior to the start of course.
Deposit is nonrefundable.
