Admission

Students who believe their backgrounds, experience, or special qualifications are consistent with the goals of the M.S. program are encouraged to apply. In evaluating applicants for admission, the following are considered minimum requirements: (a) combined verbal and quantitative score of 1250 on the Graduate Records Examination or a score of 600 on the Graduate Management Admissions Test; (b) a TOEFL score of 250 (for international students only); (c) a record of previous scholastic excellence in either business or closely related social science disciplines (e.g., psychology, sociology); and (d) evidence of oral communication skills. No industry experience is required.

In addition, it is essential that the student has clear educational and professional goals that are consistent with the requirements and objectives of the M.S. program. Evidence of such goals includes:

  1. a statement articulating the applicant's professional goals with sufficient specificity to enable the admissions committee to judge the degree of congruence between these goals and the requirements and objectives of the program; and
  2. an indication that the applicant is familiar with and understands the requirements of the program.

Admissions decisions are made by the faculty as a whole. The faculty may request an interview with the candidate as part of the admissions process. Before any student can be admitted into the program, a faculty member must agree to serve as that student's supervisory committee chair. This declaration must be made at the time of the admission decision.

Applications for the M.S. in Marketing program are accepted through the University of Florida's Admissions Office.
