Registration

These general guidelines are intended to assist undergraduate exchange students in the process of registering and making course selections.

Credit Hours

Undergraduate exchange students must take a minimum of 12 credit hours up to a maximum of 18 credit hours per semester in order to maintain visa status as a "full-time" student. This usually averages out to 4 or 5 classes. The average course load at UF is 12-16 credit hours.

Classes meet in a classroom one hour per week for every credit hour. Thus, 4 credit hour courses meet in a classroom 4 hours each week for the entire semester (16 weeks).

Professors expect students to prepare 1-2 hours outside of the classroom for every credit hour enrolled. For one business course, a student will be in the classroom 4 hours a week AND spend an additional 4-8 hours PER WEEK preparing for the course.

Course Eligibility

Undergraduate Exchange students are eligible to enroll in most courses offered by the Warrington College of Business Administration as long as they meet course prerequisites (Prerequisites are previous course work or knowledge that would establish eligibility to enroll in a course). There are a limited number of seats available in courses offered by other UF colleges as well (statistics, foreign language, etc...)

If applicants are interested in discussing the possibility of taking graduate level courses in business, they must contact Ana Portocarrero, Coordinator of Student Affairs for International Graduate Business Programs.

Add/Drop Period

During the first week of classes, there is a period during which you can adjust your schedule. This provides students with a chance to meet the instructor and review the syllabus. Although classes can be added through the end of the first week, many classes are filled by this point. We advise that you plan your course request carefully and make alternative selections.

Grades

Grades are assigned at the end of the semester and may be based on any combination of the following criteria: attendance, participation, group work, homework, quiz scores, or test scores.
