Warrington Welcome Overview
Each year, hundreds of new undergraduate students enter the Warrington College of Business Administration and find a vast new array of opportunities and challenges. Their transition will be facilitated with our first-year seminar, Warrington Welcome. Warrington Welcome seeks to provide personal development in the areas of diversity, ethical behavior, business leadership, teamwork, and community service.
Warrington Welcome is a one-credit course for freshmen declaring a business or accounting major. The class size is limited to 20 students and is facilitated by a professional staff member and an upper-level business major. The College expects that business and accounting majors will take Warrington Welcome during their first semester on campus.
The three themes for this first-year course are:
- Personal Attention
- Great Friendships
- A Foundation for Success
The objectives for this course are:
- To provide mentoring opportunities between the students and the instructor and peer leader.
- To provide an overview of the services most essential to student satisfaction and success.
- To provide an understanding of study skills, time management, goal setting, financial management, academic planning, and career development.
- To provide an understanding of the role of diversity in the university and in the workplace.
- To provide an atmosphere in which students support each other.
